3rd December 2004
3822 is now back at Didcot over following 18 months at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, where it had no major problems. The first job now it is back at Didcot it to prepare the engine for it's annual boiler exam.
25th January 2004
3822 will be spending the next year at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway.
20th September 2003
3822 has been running at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway for the summer with no major problems, and will stay there until the end of the year, it will then return to Didcot. At the time of writing it is unknown if 3822 will remain at Didcot next year or visit another railway.
25th March 2003
3822 is at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway and expected to be running on the 29/30th March and 12/13th April. 3822 has already been used for passenger trains, and is expected to be in regular use during the summer period. Upon Arrival at Toddington it was found that grease had been put on the tender journals during an ultra-sonic exam, that had been carried out so that 3822 could gain access to the loading point via the main line. The grease got on to the oil pads, blocking the oil, and causing problems. When we new pads were ordered for 7202 a set was ordered for a GWR tender, these were soaked in oil for 24 hours, then fitted to 3822, without missing a scheduled days operation. Further pictures and details of operation will be published when time permits. |

3822 will be visiting the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway next year, remaining there for most of the summer .

3822 is now running, see launch page.
22nd February 2002
From information supplied by Neil Carr.
We had a good weekend last weekend. Much more painting achieved; the
barrel is now gloss black. The tender has had more paint work done and
the inside of the cab has been finished.
The Brick arch is built and the ashpan damper rods all fitted and
working.
Next weekend we will fit the new superheater elements, this may seems strange,
but 3822 was given some old elements from No.4079 'Pendennis Castle' , these
have proven to past their best, so a new set is being fitted now rather than
in a couple of years time.
1st February 2002
3822 will be re-launched at Didcot on March 16th, before then the final coats of paint need finishing, which is being done by Didcot volunteers, and re-connection of the damper door rodding.

3822 is shown having a test steam as it is now nearly finished, it was also connected to its tender today, along with its repaired fall plate, this can be seen in the lower picture. It is still planned to have the engine in steam for the GWS's 40th anniversary on the weekend of 29th/30th September 2001. |

It is hoped that 3822 may be in steam at the GWS's 40th anniversary event at the end of September. The top view shows the smokebox, A is the bottom of the chimney, the blower ring and petticoat have yet to be fitted, B is the regulator box, and C is the blast-pipe jumper ring with a piece on top to stop any bits falling down. As can be seen the steam pipes and superheaters are now all fitted. The lower picture shows the new pistons in place with the cross head and rods, also visible is the vacuum pump. |
